Born in 1900 in Saint-Claude, France, Suzanne Vuillerme, who the world would come to know as Suzanne Belperron, was nurtured in Besançon.
This city, known for housing France’s first public museum and the cradle of the national watch industry, served as Belperron’s early canvas, rich in artistic and horological heritage.
Graduating from Besançon’s École des Beaux-Arts at 18, she swiftly transitioned to Paris, aligning with Boivin, a renowned jewelry house celebrated for its inventive and exquisite creations. Here, Belperron began to etch her mark, emerging as a trailblazer among the few female designers in Paris’s elite jewelry circles.
