A Brief History of Victorinox
Victorinox Swiss Army was founded in 1884 by Karl Elsener in Ibach, Switzerland. Initially a cutlery workshop, it soon gained fame for its high-quality knives. In 1891, Elsener began supplying the Swiss Army with the now-iconic Soldier’s Knife. The breakthrough came in 1897 with the Swiss Officer’s and Sports Knife, known today as the Swiss Army Knife, celebrated for its multifunctional design.
Victorinox expanded its product range over the years, adding household and professional knives, watches, travel gear, and fragrances. In 2005, Victorinox acquired Wenger, its main competitor, unifying the Swiss Army Knife brand.
