A Diamond Eternity Band Broken in Half

Making Two Halves Become Whole Again
Welcome back to another Before & After blog spotlight! This 14k white gold eternity ring was sent in, with the owner noting that it “broke in two due to missing stones.” As observed, it is apparent that there were two missing stones from their settings, which made them weak points in the ring that eventually made the ring split in half.
Thanks to the skills of our Master Jewelers, the two halves became whole again!

The Details of this Diamond Ring Restoration
For this diamond ring repair, we had to:
- Perform our standard and free professional evaluation after noting the repair requests of the customer
- As you may have already known, although we are an online jewelry and watch repair company, we only provide evaluations when our skilled craftsmen can physically asses the items in person at our secure facility
- After evaluation, it was noted that one diamond was chipped in addition to the two that were missing
- Source out the three diamonds for replacement
- Solder and reshape the ring
- Set the three new diamond gemstones in the fixed settings
- Retip the worn prongs of both the settings with the diamonds that were replaced, as well as the others to prevent other stones from falling out
- Provide a professional clean & polish
And voilà! This white gold diamond eternity band was restored by to its pristine condition and was sent back to where it belongs—around the finger of its owner.
Professional Metalworking and Soldering Services
What is Metalworking?
The art of metalworking involves shaping and molding metal to produce useful tools, objects, components for equipment, and building structures. The term encompasses a broad and varied range of techniques, abilities, and instruments utilized to create objects in all sizes.
There are many types of jewelry metalworking techniques that exist. Each technique requires a different set of skills and tools, and the choice of technique will depend on the desired result. The most common metalworking repairs that our Master Jewelers are involved with include soldering and unsoldering jewelry pieces, laser welding, and stone setting.
Our Professional Soldering Services
Jewelry soldering is a metalworking process used to join two or more metal pieces together permanently. It involves heating the metal to its melting point and applying a small amount of filler metal, called solder, to the joint. The solder melts and flows into the joint, forming a strong bond between the metal pieces when it cools and solidifies.
Ring soldering repair is typically a simple service, but there are quite a few cases where it can require more effort, just like for this restoration.
