This Week’s Issue: A Missing Stone in a Ring With an Invisible Setting
On this edition of the weekly before and after, we focus on a missing stone replacement on an invisible setting ring. Rings with an invisible setting are far more difficult and time consuming than prong or channel settings. However, because of the effort, skill required, and stones required to work with this setting, the value of the ring is also higher.
To replace the missing stone for this ring, we had to:
• Supply the correct cut diamond
• Groove and set the stone
• Tighten the other loose stones
• Perform a rhodium clean and polish to finish the job
