The Details of Gemstone Replacement
Any type of jewelry, any type of setting, any type of gemstone:
We’ve got you covered.
Your treasured jewelry piece deserves the precision and care of a Master Jeweler—one who understands the complexities of jewelry repair but also appreciates the history and craftsmanship that each piece holds.
Types of Gemstones We Replace
Topaz
Replacement
Topaz is a versatile gemstone known for its impressive hardness and vibrant range of colors, scoring an 8 on the Mohs scale and appearing in shades from pink and brown to clear. If you’re in need of a Topaz gemstone replacement, our Master Jewelers and Professional Stone Sourcing Team will ensure your piece is fitted with a stone of the perfect quality and match.
Rhodolite Garnet
Replacement
Rhodolite Garnet is a stunning reddish-purple gemstone prized for its brilliance, thanks to its high refractive index and a hardness of 7–7.5 on the Mohs scale, making it ideal for all types of jewelry. Beyond its exquisite color, it carries deep meaning, and our Master Jewelers ensure each piece receives expert care and precision so your Rhodolite Garnet shines as beautifully as the day you first received it.
Amethyst
Replacement
Amethyst, a violet variety of quartz, is cherished for its beauty and calming energy, long believed to bring peace and serenity. Its rich purple hue makes it a timeless choice for any jewelry piece or occasion, and our Master Jewelers take every measure to ensure your Amethyst gemstone is expertly cared for or replaced to preserve its beauty and sentimental value.
Citrine
Replacement
Citrine, a radiant yellow-amber gemstone from the Quartz family, is rare in its natural form and often created by heat-treating other quartz varieties like amethyst. Valued for its warm hue and resemblance to Topaz, Citrine adds a vibrant touch to any jewelry piece. Our certified specialists ensure every Citrine gemstone is expertly sourced and cared for to keep your treasured piece shining beautifully.
Opal
Replacement
Opal is one of the most captivating and diverse gemstones, known for its holographic play of color and amorphous structure, which lacks a defined crystal form. The more vibrant its display, the higher its value—and such brilliance deserves expert care. Our Master Jewelers specialize in restoring Opal gemstones to their original luster, ensuring each piece shines with the same radiance and quality as when it was first cherished.

Have Gemstone Replacement Questions?
Gemstone replacement is the most variable cost of the jewelry repair process. Usually the majority of the cost will depend on the stone, depending on the type, size, and cut of the gem required for your ring or necklace. However there is still the setting of the stone (prong, invisible setting, etc.), and if the gem is rare enough the custom cutting of the stone to be applied to your piece.

- Gemstone replacement involves cleaning the piece in question beforehand — that way we can thoroughly assess any damage that might not have met the eye initially.
- We make sure to find a gemstone replacement (if applicable) that fits the piece and matches the other stones that are already in the place, which helps us ensure that our repair work helps make your piece of jewelry look as good as new.
- Once we have the new gemstone that will replace the old one, we’ll set that gemstone in place, making sure that it sits in exactly the same fashion as the old gemstone did.
- We also make sure to repair damaged prongs, beads, or any additional part of the piece in order to make certain that your gemstone replacement is ultimately secure and held in place.
- If we end up repairing a piece that features multiple or several gemstones featured in the same piece of jewelry, then it becomes an essential part of our repair process to make sure our gemstone replacement matches those pre-existing gemstones in every way possible.
- We take special considerations when selecting our gemstone replacements that will be used in our repair process. My Jewelry Repair has extensive experience when it comes to evaluating and selecting gemstones, not to mention amazing relationships within the jewelry industry that have taken decades to cultivate — we put all of our knowledge and expertise to work for our customers, one repair at a time.
- After resetting the gemstone and/or repairing the settings, this might impact other areas of the piece of jewelry in question, so we make sure to refinish each piece of jewelry we perform gemstone replacement services for before we return it to our customers.
